NEWS RELEASE : Lib Dems brand council Co-Leaders irresponsible over lockdown statement

Commenting media reports that Aberdeen City Council’s Co-Leaders have said they do not support the extension of the local lockdown in Aberdeen, Ian Yuill, Leader of the Aberdeen City Council Liberal Democrats, said, "This is completely irresponsible. The last thing our city needs just now is confusion and uncertainty - and Councillors Laing and Lumsden seem determined to create just that."

Ian Yuill continued, "The local lockdown is damaging Aberdeen's economy, local businesses and jobs. We all want to see the local lockdown ended just as soon as it safe to do so. The way to do that is for each and every one of us to stick to the lockdown rules and guidelines. If we do not, the virus will spread, more people will become infected and people could die.

“For Councillors Laing and Lumsden to try and second-guess the Interim Chief Medical Officer and his colleagues is arrogant beyond belief.”
