Aberdeen's Liberal Democrat councillors have been given an assurance by a very senior council manager that action will be taken over the lack of social distancing at Soul on Union Street over the weekend.
Liberal Democrat Group Leader Ian Yuill said: "I contacted a very senior council manager at the weekend after people told me they were shocked by the complete lack of social distancing at Soul. I was sent a photo of a queue on Union Street with absolutely no social distancing. I was also told there was little social distancing inside the marquee at the bar.
"I have now been assured that council staff 'will be engaging with this pub this morning given we have received a number of complaints'."
Councillor Yuill continued: "What happened outside Soul - and I am told some other venues - over the weekend must not be allowed to happen ever again. Crowds like this put everyone single one of us at risk.
"Venues need to manage their premises, marquees and queues responsibly. Individuals visiting pubs and bars must also take responsibility for their actions and stick to the rules, observe social distancing and help keep themselves and others safe."
